On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight,” Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) said that “it’s simply unlucky” that New York Metropolis Mayor Eric Adams (D) stated among the similar issues as 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump about migrants and immigration, Trump’s argument “is a horrible one round migrants, round immigration.” And “that’s not who New York is. New York is outlined by the contributions of immigrants to the town of New York. That is the place, the Statue of Liberty.”
After host Alex Wagner referenced Adams’ feedback about migrants, Jayapal stated, “I believe the problem right here is that the entire argument proper now that Donald Trump is pushing is a horrible one round migrants, round immigration. And it’s simply unlucky that Eric Adams [said] a few of those self same issues, he stated a few of those self same issues and I believe New Yorkers didn’t prefer it. I believe that’s not who New York is. New York is outlined by the contributions of immigrants to the town of New York. That is the place, the Statue of Liberty. And I believe that — so, that is troublesome, in some ways.”
