Mohammed Shami ruled out for Brisbane Test, Rohit Sharma says “door open for him”

IND vs AUS: Mohammed Shami has not performed any worldwide cricket for the reason that World Cup 2023 ultimate in October final 12 months.

Team India has lost the IND vs AUS second Test at Adelaide rather poorly, by 10 wickets. Apart from dismal batting show, one of the key reasons, why India couldn’t put up a decent show was, the failure of the bowlers to dismiss Travis Head, who scored 140 from 141 deliveries. Even though Jasprit Bumrah has been brilliant in the series, and has picked 12 wickets, he cannot be the only one picking up wickets.

That shifts the focus to Mohammed Shami, that Team India direly needs, and whether he will be fit for the Brisbane Test, starting on December 14. Speaking at a press conference at the loss at Adelaide Test, skipper Rohit Sharma made it clear, that while the door for Shami is open, but they want to be cautious before drafting him into the team.

Rohit said, “The door is very much open (for Mohammed Shami). But we are just monitoring him, because while playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he got some swelling in his knee. It obviously hampers his preparation to come and play a Test match here. We want to be very, very careful. We don’t want to be in that situation where we bring him for a game and then he pulls up sore..we want to be more than 100% sure with him.

“It has been such a long time that he has not played cricket. And to be fair to him, we don’t want to put any pressure on him. There are some professionals who are monitoring him. We will take a call on what those guys feel,” the skipper concluded.
