Tensions bubbled over in Moscow on Sunday when Russian police arrested a former minister in Vladimir Putin’s authorities for allegedly throwing a bottle of Champagne at a courier.
Pyotr Bobylev, director of the coal trade division on the Russian Power Ministry and former deputy vitality minister, allegedly attacked a 33-year-old man named Andrey who was working as a supply driver, Russian state media TASS reported Monday.
Andrey informed the authorities that he was driving a service automotive when he noticed a pair strolling towards him carrying a bottle of Champagne, Russian Telegram channel Shot reported. He stated the person began shouting at him, spitting at him, after which threw the Champagne bottle.
Russian authorities confirmed in a press release that the alleged perpetrator was Bobylev.
“The violator was detained and brought to the police division for investigation, he turned out to be the director of the coal trade division within the Ministry of Power Pyotr Bobylev,” the assertion reads.
“A pre-investigation verify is being carried out in opposition to Bobylev. It’s also being checked whether or not he was intoxicated,” it continues.
Bobylev has been working on the Russian Power Ministry since 2010. He turned deputy minister in 2021, however stepped down voluntarily a 12 months later. He was then appointed as director of the Russian ministry’s coal trade division in 2022.
